About Renewal Church

Our Origin Story

In 2020, when we experienced a global pandemic that shut many churches down, the birth of House Church began. House Church is where we gather weekly to study God’s Word, pray, worship, take communion, and do life with one another. In doing life together, we support, spur each other on and hold each other accountable. It’s from this organic place, where friendships and trust have grown. It’s from House Church that we all felt the call to plant a church right here in our hometown of Hawley, PA. The Comrie’s have a global mission organization called Global Renewal. Global Renewal has been planting churches overseas, as well as building homes to rescue girls from sex trafficking. We are a church plant from Global Renewal and the first church planted by them in America.

Our Ministries

Renewal Kids

In Matthew 19:14, it says, “Let the little children come to me, and do not hinder them, for the kingdom of heaven belongs to such as these.” We passionately desire to see our kids grow in the Word and know God at a young age! Renewal Kids is for children ages 3 years old through Grade 5.  Our Renewal Kids time includes play time, worship, prayer, and an age-appropriate biblical teaching. Kids will meet upstairs in the Eddy Studio during our 10:00 AM service.

We’ll also have a space available in the back of the main room for parents with babies who may need a quiet place during the service.

Renewal Teens

Our teenagers are not just the church of tomorrow: They are the church of today! Ezekiel 37:14 says, “I will put my Spirit within you and you will come to life.” This is the desire for our Renewal teens. We want to see a resurgence in our NextGen! Our heart is that our teenagers would come to life and make faith their own. Pray with us for this ministry as we are working to have a dedicated weekly place for our teenagers to explore and grow in their faith and develop a solid biblical foundation.

Currently, we have a once-a-month gathering for all teenagers in grades 6th-12th. Times and locations vary, so please be sure to follow us on social media for updates, or you can reach out to Pastor Mike at mike@renewal-church.org or Pastor Cissie at cissie@renewal-church.org directly!

Renewal Worship

Every Sunday, you will experience powerful, spirit-filled worship. With a mix of new songs and classics, we desire to help people engage with God through singing praise and worship.

John 4:23-24 says, “But the hour is coming, and is now here. when the true worshippers will worship the Father in spirit and truth, for the Father is seeking such people to worship Him. God is spirit, and those who worship him must worship in spirit and truth.”

We want to worship God as true worshippers. People who are unhindered, freely worshipping in spirit and truth the King of Kings and Lord of Lords.

Our Beliefs

  1. The Bible is the inspired and infallible Word of God and is the ultimate authority on all issues pertaining to spiritual life. (2 Timothy 3:15-16)
  2. There is one God, eternally existing in three Persons: Father, Son, and Holy Spirit. (Deuteronomy 6:4, Matthew 28:19, Mark 12:29)
  3. Jesus Christ was born of a virgin, He died vicariously on the cross making atonement for our sins, He was raised physically from the dead on the third day and ascended into Heaven. (Isaiah 7:14, Romans 8:34, Acts 1:10)
  4. Salvation is available to every person on earth by grace through faith in Christ. (1 John 5:10, Romans 10:13-15, 2 Peter 3:9)
  5. Water baptism by immersion is an important step of obedience in the life of every believer. (Matthew 28:19)
  6. Divine healing is provided for through the redemptive work of Christ on the cross. (Isaiah 53:4, Matthew 8:16-17, James 5:13-14)
  7. All the gifts of the Holy Spirit written in Scripture are still relevant and active today. (1 Corinthians 12:1-11)
  8. The baptism of the Holy Spirit is distinct from salvation. It is a gift that God desires all believers to have in order to have a more effective prayer life, a greater ability to witness, and for their personal edification. (Acts 2:4, 10:44-46, 19:6, 1 Corinthians 14:2-4, 14:18)
  9. After salvation there is an ongoing work of sanctification through the Holy Spirit which enables a believer to live a holy life. (Hebrews 12:14, 1 Peter 1:15-16, 2 Corinthians 3:18)
  10. There will be a second coming of Jesus Christ. (Acts 24:15, Luke 14:14, Revelation 19:7-9)
